Current controller answer and historical demo boundary

The official store checked on August 12, 2026 lists Full Controller Support and Gamepad Recommended for the live Early Access product. These labels describe the store capability and preferred input, not every third-party device or a Steam Deck rating.

The demo is historical launch coverage. The July 17 official announcement confirms that saves, unlocks and progression carry over, while Echo Fragments reset to 0. Other migration details are not confirmed.

Echoes of Mystralia demo and system requirements

1. Open the official Steam page and select its demo, or search Steam for app 4378410.
2. Confirm the publisher and game title before installing; a similarly named download outside Steam is not the verified demo used for this guide.
3. Compare your PC with the official requirements. The demo being free does not lower its published hardware target.

What the demo can verify

Use the demo to test frame pacing, spell effects, text size and your preferred input device on your own PC. It was the safest pre-launch way to judge whether the gamepad-first controls fit you; current controller claims should use the live store listing above.

The demo does not verify every feature in the current Early Access build. Content volume, balance, save format and settings can change. The July 17 official announcement confirms that saves, unlocks and progression carry over, with one important exception: Echo Fragments reset to 0 because their earning rules and Altar-upgrade role have been redesigned. Other migration steps are not documented, so keep a backup and follow the launch instructions when published.

Controller setup checklist

• Connect the controller before launching Steam, then confirm Steam sees it under Controller settings.
• Start with Steam Input defaults before adding a custom community layout.
• If prompts switch between keyboard and gamepad, disconnect duplicate virtual controllers and restart.
• Test navigation, spell selection and pause-menu actions before committing to a long session.

“Full controller support” describes the store capability; “Gamepad Recommended” states the intended input preference. Neither label guarantees every third-party controller or handheld configuration.

Steam Deck and handhelds

The checked official page did not display a Valve Deck rating. You can test the free demo on your own device, but label results as device-specific rather than calling the game Verified. Record the Deck model, SteamOS version, resolution and performance preset when sharing a result.

Make an input problem reproducible

If the controller fails, record the controller model, connection type, Steam Input state, operating system and the exact menu or action that failed. Retest once with the default layout and no duplicate virtual controller before changing several settings at once. That separates a game issue from a custom mapping or device conflict and produces a report the developer can act on. Keep screenshots and logs free of account names and other private information.
